Better is the end…

I have a bad habit of starting things and not finishing them…

I was reading Ecclesiastes one day and came across this verse. I know I’ve read and heard this before but it had always seemed a little backwards to me. Why is it good for something to end. If you enjoy something you don’t want it to end. But the more I thought about it, the more it started to make sense. It’s easy to start something or make big plans but it can be hard to stick with them through to the end. This seems especially relevant in our world of instant gratification. We are always trying to multitask (i’m no exception) and have short attention spans, it’s all too easy focus on something for 10 seconds and then get distracted by the next flashing light.

Since reading this, I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to think more about projects I start, and finish something before moving on to the next thing.
